Handmade Greeting Cards

Students of Hope University create greeting cards, handmade from recycled paper. They are about 4" x 6" when open, and are often decorated with original student artwork.

The end result is a unique and interesting product that showcases the abilities of Hope's students. These socially-concious cards make great gifts, while helping a priceless cause. Please call for information on purchasing some cards today!

Step 1
To create these cards, recycled paper material is put into a blender with water and whirled for about 15 seconds.
  Step 2
The resulting pulp is then poured into a papermaking mold.
  Step 3
The mold is drawn up, covered with a screen, and pressed to remove excess water.
         
Step 4
The pulp is then rolled into sheets using a rolling pin.
  Step 5
The paper is then dried, either in the microwave or out in the sun if glitter or seeds are used in the papermaking process.
  Step 6
After the paper is dry, it is folded in half, fitted with an interior piece of paper, and fastened together, usually with a piece of raffia.
